HAPROXY Stats page for monitoring unrelated Servers

Hi,

Would it be practical to add a few back-ends with servers without using them, just for plain checking the status of http or other service availability monitoring.

Please advise.

If you want to do that, sure.
Just use the resolver, because IP addresses will change and if you don’t, you will keep querying obsolete IPs.

Btw this section is called “Configuration Samples”, for when YOU want to provide an sample configuration for others. Questions like this belong to the Help category.
